What if I want to come to therapy but don’t like talking on the phone?
That’s okay, we understand! You can text our number, and we will get back to you via text ASAP.
What are your hours?
We are open Monday-Wednesday from 2 PM to 5 PM.
How long is a session?
A session runs for 55 minutes from start to finish, whether you are here for Talk Therapy, EMDR, or a Neurofeedback Session.
Do you accept Insurance?
We do not. Insurance doesn’t accept us.
Neurofeedback is considered an alternative therapy and yet to be covered by insurance.
What we can do is provide you with a statement with coding to send to your insurance for whatever reimbursement they may provide.
With what ages do we work?
We can do maps on children as young as 4, as long as they can sit still for a 5-minute reading.
Anything younger isn’t in our database for QEEG comparison.
What if I’m 104 and want a map?
We can map you, too, and are so glad you are continuing to seek mental health into your golden years!
Are there clients with whom you won’t work?
No. We work with anyone that wants their life and/or their family’s life to improve.
If we are traveling for an intensive, where can we stay for the two weeks?
Many of the families that come choose to rent through Airbnb.
We also have some families who feel comfortable staying at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Spokane. RMH has taken very good care of our clients. However, some families prefer the privacy of their own rental.
Some families opt to stay in a hotel; there are several that are in relatively short driving distance.
What is the difference between Biofeedback and Neurofeedback?
Biofeedback is basically making people aware of biological processes and then teaching skills to be able to change those processes toward healthier patterns.
Neurofeedback is a specific type of biofeedback that works with brain wave activity. We use a QEEG (also called a brain map) to determine unhealthy brain wave patterns and then use neurofeedback to change those patterns.
Will there be homework?
Occasionally homework is given to clients.
But is it as hard as math? NO. Never. Math is so much harder than our homework assignments.
What is Jasper’s favorite treat?
Now, this may sound crazy to you, because he is a dog after all – but Jasper loves to eat healthy snacks!
His favorite vegetable is cucumber, and his favorite fruit is a tie between apples and watermelon.
Having said this, if you want to give Jasper a treat for being a good boy and sitting with you in session, please ask us for a dog treat. We keep some at the office for him!
Why don’t the evergreens on the mountains lose their needles in winter like other trees?
Great question. As temperatures around the Pacific Northwest begin to dip, broad-leaf trees like Walnut and Maple start to withdraw the chlorophyll (the pigment that absorbs sunlight to power photosynthesis) from their leaves.
These trees then send all their nutrients from the leaves down to the roots to save for next spring.
The broad-leaf tree does this, because they would lose too much moisture over winter if they kept their leaves; and this helps conserve energy to stay alive during winter.
But Evergreen Conifers (cone-bearing) keep their needles year around, because they have a different way of hibernating during winter. Their needles are actually very strong leaves rolled up tight. This shape allows the trees to conserve water and gives them special protection from the cold. So, because they have more water than the broad-leafed tree, their leaves stay attached and stay green longer. They also have a waxy coating that helps them save water in the cold winter and the warm summers.
